During a travel career spanning 41 years, Mr. Gehl founded and was President of several retail travel agencies, a receptive tour operation for Delta, Eastern and other major carriers followed by a position as Director of Air Operations for what was at the time the largest DMC in the U.S. with 20 locations, headquartered in San Francisco. Subsequent to this, Mr. Gehl relocated to Florida to accept a consulting position with the SystemOne computer division of Eastern Airlines with the goal of increasing Eastern Airlines retail travel agency computer market share while simultaneously acting as Eastern Airline’s National Account Manager for Maritz.
After hiring replacement and the acquisition of Eastern Airlines by Continental airlines, Mr. Gehl was placed on an essential personnel list and transferred to Continental Airlines where he became Director of Wholesale & Leisure Sales for Continental/Eastern Sales with the responsibility of establishing wholesale rates and expand the U.S. tour operator network
Mr. Gehl formed his own company, Corporate Cruise Consultants, developing an exclusive airfare niche in the burgeoning meeting and incentive market. As a result, his company became a resource for a host of third party planning companies leading him to become the 20 year vice president of cruise sales for HelmsBriscoe. In addition to bringing his current company to the next level, Mr. Gehl remains on the advisory board of a planned cruise line with ships specifically designed for the meeting market.
